Solo Traveler in Taiwan - Chapter 2 First Day in Taiwan

Here's my journal goes ...

Day 1 - 25 April 2015 (Depart from Kota Kinabalu International Airport Terminal 2 to Taoyuan International Airport, Taiwan.

Consider as my first day fly to Taiwan is more likely I were into Amazing Race competition. Cause I woke up kinda late though. Supposely woke up at 4am lucklily my mom call at 5am, thank goodness I already packed all of my stuff. I just rush to the toilet and put on my shoes check-out like I was chasing by a ghost haha. Cause my flight depart at 610am hahaha.. luckily I did an online checking, kinda relief on it though. Phew... it took me about 10mins from Celyn City Hotel to Airport. As soon as I arrived at airport I ran as fast as I can to Departure Hall. It seems kinda funny though, and I make a phone call to my mom that I already arrived at airport and immediate boarding rush into the aircraft. I I thought I was late, nah i'm not the only one there is still of people still queing up go inside aircraft.

I can't remember what my flight number was, but all I know is that my flight departed at 0610am, kinda early though, but in KK 0600am it almost like 0700am at my hometown Miri. You can tell how well do am I do a race in Amazing Race of my own version haha!!

Good Morning .. took a selfie post it on Instagram and send it to my mom via Whatsapp .. I forgot to take a picture with two beautiful dentist who sat next to me.

As usual everytime I booked a flight I usually bought window seating hehe. Cause I love to watch the view and took a stunning picture above the sky around 30,000 feet above of the ocean.

I think you can't see it clearly though our flight passed by Palawan Island, Philipines before it move to the left of to Taiwan.

Breakfast ....

How cute and adorable of this mini burger is ... with a smiley face. It makes me SMILE looking at it hehe

Yummy .. .Mini Chicken Burger ... mamamia

Let's muching it ...

Are you laughing at me hahah!!

This is what I like most "Be Kind to Mother Earth" keep GREEN ...

It's a must to take shoesfie ...

At 915am our flight touched down safely at Taoyuan International Airport Taiwan... OMG
this is my first time travel to overseas all alone heheh

I found out Taoyuan International Airport is damn clean I even did not see
any spot of an ice cream or any sort of liquid

Shinny through ...

This is my favourite part, Orchid are everywhere inside the airport.

Hey mom, look at this your favourite orchid

Guess who I've met, my ex-lecturer Mr Leong & Mrs Jasmine along with their son ...

Bound to buy a bus ticket to Taoyuan High Speed Rail Station

Before I'm going much further, here some information for you guys if you're coming to Taiwan for first time.  Halal restaurant are available in Taoyuan International Airport Terminal Aiport you can find it at some around the food court, I did not took any picture of that restaurant cause I was super excited much hahah ... If you're planning to experience a bullet train, you can take a UBUS or this green colour bus it cost around TWD30 or 90 I can't remember how much it cost. It will take you to Taoyuan High Speed Rail Station.

Oh don't forget to purchase yourself a EasyCard for MRT usage and Taiwan's Unlimited Data Prepaid cost me around TWD500 for 7 days.

Here's my ticket to Taipei Main Station

Here's the bullet train is coming.

Here's some funny story happen to me on first day arrived in Taiwan. Actually I used the wrong High Speed Train hahah .. cause I even did not notice there's a train number on each destination. I was hopping into the train bound to South haha!!! Thank goodness, Taiwanese are so helpful and friendly, one of the lady told me I used the wrong train and I have to stop at one station and take a ride from there back to Taipei. At least I was going a places that isn't on my list hehe ... About the weather situation it kinda unpredictable though, even it stated 28'C but when the winds blow

This is view out from Hsinchu Station ...

Well of coarse selfie is a must lol

Okay I really arrived at Taipei Main Station.

As soon as I arrived in Taipei Main Station, I saw a lot of people moving like an ants, they were moving too fast and there's no time for you to do a catwalk or control "ayu" berjalan k, ada jak korang kena siku haha .. cause everyone is chasing time and don't worry you won't get lost but it's soooo hugggeeee ... until I need to figure out where's the exit hahaha ... won't get lost much aye hahaha!!

Walking on foot from Taipei Main Station to Main Inn (Place where I crash for two days)

Here I am ... Main Inn Taipei ...

I asked the reception counter at Main Taipei Inn a place where do I stay for 2 nights,
a location to one of famous beef noodles in Taiwan too bad when I reached there according to people
that I asked at that area they've said it CLOSED. So I just look for another optional Halal restaurant.
All I can say is during my first day in Taiwan I'm facing a lot of obstacle in term of finding where is the location of Halal food surround Taipei area, but I'll never giving up. Actually there's a lot, but every shop sign are in Chinese so it's pretty hard for me at first. Local people are friendly and they gave me direction where should I go. Hehe ...

Consider me as lucky though I get to see Farm Expo at front of Yuanshan Station. I took MRT from Taipei Main Station to Yuanshan cost me around TWD45 only. Isn't cost me much. I can see a lot variety of fruits and some other stuff.

The information centre person gave me this map a direction to find a famous Pineapple Cake ...
It's a must for you to try it.

Remember ... everywhere you go don't forget to get a postcard or a notebook for you to stamp on.
Cause they'll provide a stamp and stamp pad it means you'll already arrived at that certain places. How cool is that.

In Taiwan, you can rent a UBike for you to circle all around the area, it won't cost much and I found it so cheap though

Alhamdulillah finally, I found this Halal Restaurant at Taipei Expo Park. I don't have an issue about what to eat and etc, cause I don't really look for rice though. I can survive if my whole day meal based on bread, chicken, fries, salad and some sort of like. Enough with it .. hehe .. As what you can see here it cost me TWD180 for a set of I can't recall what is this food name is all I know it's a Morocco's Cuisine. Delicious though. This is a quite huge, when we talk about spicy don't worry it isn't that spicy much and I even can't taste the spiciness in it. The stall name is Casablanca you can find it on Facebook I'll share you the link later on. hehe

It wrap with pita bread and fill with luxurious amount of chicken that you're dying for ...

This is the owner, she's very friendly.

Caution this is not a cotton candy ahahhaa!!!

How fluffy is this looks like .. so adorable. Apa yang boleh share kucing n anjing fluffy haha!!!

Some part view of Taipei's Main Road

My first experience staying at hostel, on which kinda new to me. At first it is hard for me to blend in cause most of the time I have to silent cause most of my room-mate were spending their quality time on bed.  Hahaha!!!

At night time, I thought it weather not too cold so I decided to wear a tshirt. I was wrong, it turn up like someone just open a giant freezer door .. damn cold and it's kinda a long way to go back get my jacket hahaha ... At Taipei, what do I found it shopping mall kinda unique though. It build underground, just name it what do you want to find here. Eslite Underground shopping mall is the most exclusive I've enter to. There's plenty of food stall, oh by the way if you're looking for a Halal food variety of stall open at Underground Taipei City Mall.

Underground Taipei City Mall

View at night somewhere around outside of Beimen Station

I'm of to Songshan Station cause I'm going to Raohe Night Market.

Where's everyone heheh

About the MRT, I was damn surprise though .. at outside it looks kinda simple, when you're stepping inside all surround inside the MRT are super clean and it looks like a brand new MRT. There's no funny smell and has an aircond too. Observe ...

I'm here at Raohe Night Market ... if you're looking for food, night market is the places for hunting on food. A lot of variety foods sell in a so cheap, but for me I have to choose which do I can eat and can't. In term of shopping I'm much prefer Shilin Night Market, a lot of cheap gadgets, clothes and etc that I like to buy. About Raohe Night Market as soon as you are exiting from Exit 2 if I'm not mistaken when you're stepping out of it Raohe Night Market just next to the temple.

For Halal food, there's one Halal restaurant located at Raohe Night Market Ali Baba or some sort of like that, it's a Indian Cuisine. Where I feel bloated though, cause it portion wow ... they've said it for 1 person but for me, that kinda of portion are suit for 2 hehe ...

Just random group of girls to selfie wih hehehe..

Shop Shop Shop ...

Don't forget to get yourself a Taiwan's Prepaid Mobile at Airport with Unlimited Data Usage and Airtime for you to make a phone call. Since it's unlimited and the internet speed damn super fast, makes me easier to upload video, make a free phone calls, whatsapp and etc 24/7 hahaa!!! EasyCard is a card where I top up certain amount inside it and tap it at MRT station so I don't have to purchase a single journey or two journey coins.

Mamamia ... look at it beef and rice ... on pic it do look kinda small but when you look at with your own bare eyes, you'll be surprise ahhaha

History of Taipei Main Station

Bus Stop

Yeah of coarse .. everywhere I go .. stamp is a must ...

I bought myself a BATMAN Monopod at Raohe Night Market .. hehe ..

A lot of funny things happened to me during the first day in Taiwan, did you remember I told earlier that I took the wrong bullet train bound to South and night time, way the other round. Until it makes me to tell myself "DO NOT TRUST GOOGLE MAP" hahaha!! Why? Imagine from Beimen Station to my hotel Main Inn Taipei it only took 15 minutes walk on foot. But it turn up almost an hour lost somewhere around not quite far away from my hotel. Luckily I knew a lil bit of Mandarin so it is easy for me to conversate with the taxi driver where am I heading lol.

About the Halal food, my advice is "Jangan Rasa Was-Was". If you can't find any Halal restaurant surround the area try to look for vegetarian, seafood or maybe Subway some sort of like that. Do not stick to your plan too much cause it will cost a major stress if you can't go to that certain places on time or miss out. Yes, first and 2nd day I made a planned a journey where am I should heading to and so on I can tell, it truly a major crucial stressful idea haha!! Just go for it, without any plan have fun.

It hasn't finished here yet. 6 more chapter still to go on. So far on the first day in Taiwan I LOVE IT HERE. It feels like home in Sarawak, you'll never feel like in other people country. Take note do not be afraid to ask if you are lost cause people in Taiwan will assist you as long as they can. Communication barrier it isn't a major problem here, eventhough they're not so fluently spoke in English but they will try to help you on it. For me myself, I have a basic knowledge in Mandarin just basic k, I still on process of learning on it hehe.

About the culture, I learned something new here. Whenever you want go to into the MRT, bullet train or bus, you have to que up. You can't simply pushing the other to get into the ride, follow the line. Even going up and down on escalator you also need to que hehe ... When you're going inside the MRT or Bullet Train, the rules is simple let them inside the MRT went out of the train and you can slip go into the train either left or right not entering the middle part cause middle part if for people inside to go out of the train.

Inside the MRT, you have to be more manners, you can't talk kinda loud, handphone on silent mode and keep on mind a dark blue seat is for senior citizens and disable person. Cyan colour is for normal people like us.

Okay the Chapter 1 ends here ... Chapter 2 is more all about Taipei Zoo, Maokong Mountain and Taipei Arena ...

The way you describe your journey in Taiwan sounds interesting. Do you seriously travel all alone without any tour guide or friends?
